Perform the following steps to prevent Gmail from adding a signature to every email you send:

In Gmail's navigation bar, at the upper right corner, click the Settings gear symbol.

Ingmail, click the Settings gear. From the newly-appeared menu, select All Settings.

In Gmail, there's a button that says "See All Settings."
Select General from the drop-down menu.

Select Save Changes under the No Signature option.

Best Practices Unique to You
If you decide to reactivate your email signature, follow these guidelines:

Don't overthink it. Just a few phrases should suffice.
Keep in mind that photos placed in forwards and answers may get lost. Don't use graphics to convey important facts.
Consider the facts you include about yourself. A message's recipient is never known.
Take it apart. Signatures are usually three or fewer lines long, with a line of three hyphens separating them from the rest of the document.
If you want to use quotes or viewpoints, think twice. Quotes that touch on contentious social or political themes may not be warmly accepted by all receivers.
