The auction of video games that ran over two days in the month of March, the game in "John Madden Football" sold for $480,000. This price, which is a lot higher than what the original game's cost in the beginning, set a record-setting world record for the highest price ever paid for a sports video game, according to Heritage Auctions.
"This specific copy of the auction is especially exceptional because it's from the offices of the famous name brand," the auction house notes. Part of the sale of the item will go to Heritage Auctions to a charitable foundation that was created in honor of Madden's memory.
Madden died in the late December at the age of 85.
