The new Ford E-Transit Custom electric van arrives this winter

Ford Pro unveiled the 100% electric version of Europe's best-selling van.

The Ford E-Transit Custom electric vanis not merely the next step on Ford's electric journey, but the van is also intended to kick-start the shift to electric vans for commercial operators.

Future buyers of theFord E-Transit Custom electric vanshould expect good things. Witha range of up to 380 km and a 125 kW DC fast charger, the electric van is an obvious and safe choice for converting a conventional van to an electric one.

To increase productivity, the new Ford E-Transit Custom has a class-leading towing capacity of up to 2,000 kg,a payload capacity of up to 1,100 kg, and a 100 mm lower loading height for even better access to the van. Customers' driving experiences are additionally elevated with independent rear suspension and class-leading engine power.

The new Ford E-Transit Custom also includes new digital solutions and features designed to improve customers' working days. For example, the cabin of a van with a 5G connection can be quickly changed into a mobile office, with the steering wheel transforming into an ergonomic table on which to lay a laptop or have lunch.

Customers benefit from the Ford Pro in addition to the electric powertrain. A comprehensive set of services keeps clients close by putting all services together in one location. In other words, businesses have more time to focus on their core competencies, while Ford Pro handles everything from servicing to charging, fleet management, software, and finance. As a result, the individual van customer optimizes the usage of their van.

The new Ford E-Transit Custom is explicitly geared at tiny businesses that, unlike larger fleets tied to a depot, cannot reliably predict their itineraries. The electric van was created specifically for these consumers, and its electric engine and range will demonstrate that it is a safe solution that can meet the needs of businesses.

The E-Transit Custom's 400 volts (74 kWh) battery, shared with the Ford F-150 Lightning, is larger than the E-battery Transit's and, as previously stated, provides a range of up to 380 km. Customers can pick between two engines producing 135 hp (100 kW) or 217 horsepower (160 kW), with a class-leading torque of 415 Nm.

Like the electricFord Mustang Mach-E, the Ford E-Transit Custom has a single pedal. Customers can choose to only utilize the accelerator when driving because the van will automatically brake when the foot is removed from the accelerator. As a result, using the brake pedal is unnecessary. In this regard, the one-pedal drive system provides regenerative braking, in which the car automatically absorbs and regenerates braking energy.

Ford Pro Charging assists customers in the transition to electric vehicles by, for example, allowing customers to manage to charge to identify the most efficient ways and times to charge in everyday life. For example, when is the best time of day to charge your van? Smaller businesses may find it more convenient to use public charging stations or have a charging station installed at home. Still, larger fleet customers frequently have the option of charging via depot charging. In this regard, Ford's professionals may help customers discover the charging solution that best meets their specific needs.

The Ford E-Transit Custom is the first electric vehicle to feature a novel heat pump technologythat uses steam to heat or cool the cabin. This system is standard on all models, and it provides more excellent energy economy while affecting the car's range as little as possible. It is also possible to heat or cool the cabin before the workday begins, and the vehicle must be driven.

It is up to the clients to decide how to charge the electric van. For example, the van can charge from 15 to 80 percent in 41 minutes using the 125 kW DC fast charger. According to Ford's tests, a five-minute quick charge results in a range of 38 kilometers.

With Ford Power-Up, E-Transit Custom clients make fewer trips to the workshop because software upgrades may be delivered to the van using wireless technology. The updates, among other things, can increase the car's speed, update existing functionality, or introduce whole new functions, and can be accomplished in a matter of minutes - for example, throughout the night, to avoid downtime for consumers.

For many businesses, a van is more than just a mode of transportation. The van is frequently used to store items such as tools and equipment, but the cabin is also used as an improvised work office. Customers will appreciate the new E-Transit Custom's unique and flexible steering wheel, which can be changed into an ergonomic work table where they can easily sit with a computer or eat lunch.

Customers who store tools in their cars may benefit from the security system, the SecuriAlert function in FordPass Pro. You will be notified if an attempt to enter the vehicle is registered. Customers can also grant others access to the van even if they are not standing in front of it themselves. More information on the digital security elements will be released closer to the launch date.

The new Ford E-Transit Custom offers a larger cabin with a high-tech interior that matches customers' expectations. Each van, for example, includes a 13-inch touchscreen with Ford's powerful SYNC 4 infotainment system, which is powered by a new 5G modem and communicates with Ford Pro services.

Ford Otosanmanufactures the Ford E-Transit as part of a joint venture with Ford. Production will commence in the autumn of 2023 at the new factory in Turkey.
